Unfortunately Spot Prawn Trips Are NOT normally offered to Cruise Ship Clients.
Prawn Trips are available full day and best on multi day charters. Due the amount of time required to be successful. Many times we will let them sit over night and check them the fallowing day. We generally set our traps in 150 to 300 feet of water Spot shrimp inhabit various water depths and habitat types. At times, juveniles have been observed on muddy bottoms, but adults are generally found around rock piles, crevices, coral, on sponges, under boulders, and debris-covered bottoms. So What Do Spot Prawns Taste Like? Spot prawns taste like the best shrimp you have ever had. The texture is delicate, almost buttery, providing a sort of melt-in-your-mouth sensation, and the flavor is sweet, fresh, and briny.
Non-Resident Regulations
In Ketchikan a permit is required to fish for Alaskan Spot Prawns. A non-resident angler is allowd 3 pounds or quarts (whole or deheaded) - no size restrictions.
